San Gwann is one of the busy centralized locations of Malta that have expanded and grown significantly over the past decades, starting off from a peripheral character and taking on a town-ship all its own. Situated in the proximity of Gharghur, Msida, Sliema, St Julian's and Birkirkara, it is literally en route to most places in the north east of Malta and as such is considered an ideal location for most. These include tombs, a cistern and the Roman Tower of Ta' Cieda.
A 15th Century construction in the Ta' Mensija region of San Gwann, the tower is the seat of the Military & Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem.
Dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes, it stands next to a Capuchin Friars convent.
Although also confining with other towns apart from San Gwann, these are considered as the fertile and picturesque valleys of San Gwann. All are renown as important ecological sites. Wied Ghollieqa has already been classified as a Nature & Tree Reserve.
