RE/MAX 2004 FRANCHISE GROWTH UP 38.1 PERCENT

(Greenwood Village, Colo., October 11, 2004) – With final third quarter statistics complete, RE/MAX International reports a 38.1 percent increase in franchise sales for 2004. As of September 30, 2004, a total of 667 new franchises had been sold compared to 483 for the same period in 2003.

“These numbers solidify our prediction that 2004 will be another banner year for RE/MAX franchise growth,” said Peter Gilmour, RE/MAX senior vice president of franchise sales, brokerage and international development. “2003 was a record setting year in franchise sales at 754, and it looks like 2004 will far surpass those numbers. Expansion continues in the United States and Canada, and our Australian, New Zealand, South Africa and European markets are really coming along. We are very pleased with this news.”

The largest number of new RE/MAX franchise sales occurred in the U.S. at 341, with Europe second at 238. Australia has added 23 new franchises while Canada sold 21, South Africa 17 and New Zealand added 11. RE/MAX California/Hawaii leads all regions with 43 new sales followed by RE/MAX New England at 39. RE/MAX of Spain is third at 29, RE/MAX of Florida has sold 25 for fourth place and RE/MAX Central Atlantic is fifth with 24. Besides Spain, leaders in Europe include RE/MAX of Scotland with 20, RE/MAX of Germany (SW/Bavaria) at 19 and RE/MAX of Israel and RE/MAX Portugal, both with 18 franchise sales.

Sales associate numbers also continue to rise at RE/MAX, with September 2004 statistics showing a total of 96,858 members operating out of 5,163 offices in 52 countries around the world.
