Press release: 1/04/2009

RE/MAX & Friends for Charity was launched yesterday 19th of March with the organisation of its first charity event in aid of the St. Joseph’s Home in Hamrun.  The event consisted of a full day’s activity which started with Mass at St. Rita’s Chapel in St. Julian’s, followed by bowling at Eden SuperBowl, lunch at the Intercontinental Malta and the latest 20th Century Fox Film Marley and Me at the Eden Cinema’s.

St. Joseph’s Home is a long term home for 18 boys from disadvantaged backgrounds. Boys live in three separate apartments within the main building forming small family units of six children each.  Most of the boys have experienced different traumas from their early childhood.  Others come from situations which make it impossible for them to live with their natural families.

Around ninety associates, staff, family and friends from RE/MAX hosted the boys for what was a successful event whereby the entire surplus collected from the activities will be donated to the home.   James Busuttil, Franchise Owner of RE/MAX Central stated “It was wonderful to see the boys happy and treated for a whole day”.  “Putting a smile on each of their faces was especially rewarding after the hard work it took to organise such an event”.

At the end of the day each boy thanked the people for participating in the event and for the memento they were give. “We are especially pleased with the generosity of the participants and their willingness to join us and encourage others to get involved at any cost”.  “It shows that RE/MAX is a family of people not only there for the business but also capable of giving to others. This is a RE/MAX value celebrated worldwide” said Regional Director Jeffrey Buttigieg.

In conclusion Jeff Buttigieg thanked all the participants especially James Busuttil and Michelle Debono without whom this event would not have been possible.  “The success of this event encourages us to set out our long term plans of being one of the established charities in the Maltese Islands”.
