RE/MAX Malta, held their 5th Annual General Meeting at the Hilton Malta in St. Julian’s. During the meeting the company’s senior executives presented last year’s sales statistics and analysis, outlined the Company’s strategy for the coming year and rewarded the outstanding individual performances and the top performing office.
Addressing the directors, managers, associates and staff, the Company’s managing director Kevin Buttigieg, focused particularly on the present global financial crisis and stressed on the importance of providing more expert advice to customers looking to buy property in Malta during these challenging times. “Our professionalism, which has always been the key to our success, will be the deciding factor when a customer chooses our service against our competition.” Whilst appealing to everyone to remain positive, Mr Buttigieg said that the current market scenario will provide a number of opportunities to both buyers and sellers.
Mr Buttigieg announced that for the fifth consecutive year the company registered growth in sales volumes and has reached the targets set at the beginning of last year. Mr Buttigieg reported that there was a significant increase of 31.2% in property letting. This was mainly due to an improvement in the quality of the rental properties in Malta available on the market, a significant increase in the demand for letting from new foreign companies setting up in Malta, the growth of the letting team and the rebranding of lettings department. To compliment the lettings department, in 2009 RE/MAX Malta will be setting up a fully comprehensive property management team, which will service Maltese and foreign property owners seeking a fully fledged property management service.
In conclusion Mr. Buttigieg thanked everyone for their commitment to the company and its customers and augured them every success in the year to come.
In his presentation, RE/MAX’s general manager Joseph P. Theuma gave an overview of the company’s financial performance highlighting the fact that although 2008 was a challenging year the Company registered positive results. He explained that the results were due to a number of reasons. These include amongst others, increased investment in advertising both locally and abroad and investment in training of all company employees. He stated that “training of our associates is a continuous process and today this is reaping rewards for the company. By mentoring our associates and providing them with the guidance and tools to deal with customers more professionally gives us a competitive advantage.”
